About Us

Founded in 2011, GlobeMed at Rutgers University is part of a network of students in universities across the country who endeavor to create change in global health equity and social justice through partnership with grassroots organizations.

GlobeMed at Rutgers University is a student run non-profit organization located at Rutgers University – New Brunswick in New Jersey. There are many chapters of GlobeMed across America, but specifically at Rutgers University, we are partnered with Reach a Hand to spread awareness about how this organization hosts multiple programs and initiatives to empower the youth across all regions Uganda. We raise money throughout our school year by running campaigns on our campus that advocate for the different programs we contribute to, and spread awareness about various public health issues across the Uganda. Every summer we have a GROW (Grass Roots On-Site Work) internship where we send three to four students to intern at the office as well as field work at various projects to get a complete idea of what RAHU is about. We take this information back to our chapter to further improve our methods of advocacy and fundraising.

Reach a Hand Uganda is a youth centered organization focusing on youth empowerment programs with emphasis on Livelihoods & Skills Development, Behavior Change Communication, Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights, and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. Their vision reminds us everyday that it is the young person we’re doing this for. They aim to live in a world where every young person is able to make life choices fully backed by the availability of information.

With this in mind, the Reach A Hand mission is to empower young people in Uganda aged 12-24 years with complete information, skills and tools which enable them live healthy, focused and productive lives.
