¿Que pasa RAHU?

July 22, 2019

Today was the first day the four of us went in to the office together. The day started off rather calm, with each of us working our individual assignments. Rashmi and Lily were working on their presentations and lesson plans for their upcoming trip to Yumbe, while Mariam and Aayush worked on blog posts, editing pictures, and writing up an activity report based on last week’s trip to Mbarara. After lunch, the weekly meeting between all RAHU staff was held. The meeting was organized to give each team the opportunity to give their updates and for a gateway between different teams to communicate with each other. To finish off the meeting, Lizzie, another intern from Tennessee in the U.S., led a mock session on what she does for Planned Parenthood back home. The session involved each of the members to either “agree, strongly agree, disagree, or strongly disagree” with the statements she posed. Many were challenging, such as “teenage parents can be good parents” or “schools should encourage masturbation.” After this engaging activity, it was nearing the end of the work day. Today was also one of our fellow intern’s (Karis) birthday, so we headed over to a restaurant near Acacia Mall called Que Pasa. The amazing food and opportunity to further bond with RAHU staff ended the long day in the perfect way.
