We woke up around 9:30 in the morning and tried to get our phones fixed. Mariam’s SIM works so she added data, but she never got the text to pay her tax so it still doesn’t work. Lily’s SIM just doesn’t work at all. While walking around, we decided to have lunch at this Indian restaurant called Ponnus. The food took longer to come out than we expected but it was really good! Mariam loves breakfast so she got a cheese omelet (a little salty), Lily got butter chicken, and Aayush and Rashmi got kadai paneer with naan. Mariam also got African coffee (very creamy) while the rest of us got a tropical beet juice blend which was really refreshing. While leaving, we found a laundromat next door which will be helpful. We were in a rush because Mariam and Aayush had to leave for Mbarara. RAHU staff (Paul/Helen) said they would be at Namuli Suites (our apartment) by 1pm. We got in our Uber and rushed back but chilled until they came (4 hours later, ATS (African Standard Time)). In the meantime, the 4 of us watched National Geographic on TV about a deadly plane crash in San Francisco, which may not have been the best idea, but here we are. A commercial for “The Hot Zone” was really appealing, and Lily said she read the book which was based on the Ebola outbreak, so we’re all anticipating that read/movie. While RAHU was still not here, Rashmi and Aayush went up to see the view, Mariam read on the stairs which was really peaceful, while Lily talked on the phone with her parents. RAHU ended up coming at 5pm, and Mariam, Aayush, and Karis were on their way to Mbarara with RAHU staff members Frank, Paul, Helen, and Chaadi. Rashmi and Lily were still at home, preparing for the week in the office ahead. That night, Rashmi and Lily had the leftover Indian food on the terrace and watched the sunset together.
